Ref AS 30 D5 Dissertation Abstracts is published by University Microfilms, Inc. and contains a citation plus abstract for every dissertation submitted to them for preservation on microfilm. Since most U.S. universities follow this procedure, it is an extensive database with access by author, title, and subject. MASTERS ABSTRACTS Ref Z 5055 U49 M2 Main Library Masters Abstracts is similar to Dissertation Abstracts as described above. RILM Ask at the Arts Library Music Service Desk for the CD-ROM; or, Use the print copy in the Music Reference Area. Ref ML 1 I83 The print version of this database covers 1967 through 1986; the CD-ROM covers 1970 through 1984. Both publications are continuing to expand their coverage. RILM lists all types of publications about music, including articles published in collections such as Congress Reports or Festschriften; as well as dissertations and theses and provides abstracts. You cannot depend on a particular publication being included in RILM even if it is published during the years for which data has been compiled; but, if a publication is included, RILM provides unique access to its content. DOCTORAL DISSERTATIONS IN MUSICOLOGY Ref ML 128 M8 A4 and Ref ML128 M8 D62 This publication, which began in 1952, has changed its coverage with almost every edition. The non-student works in progress were dropped again with the 1984 cumulation. Since 1984, supplements published through 1991 have followed the format and content of the 1984 edition.
