Staff Training and Organizational Development Committee

Reports to: Director of Library Human Resources.

Charge: To foster and oversee staff training and organizational development programs throughout the library for all library staff and student employees.

Frequency of Meetings: Every third week, with regular sub-committee meetings between regularly scheduled full committee meetings.

Members: Kate Reynolds (chair), Judy Carnes, Lynne Fors, Joanne Gimattei, Erika Heinen, Obianuju Mollel, George Ouellette, Curtis Orio, Barbara Rockenbach, Pina Scalzo, Karen Spicher, Kim Tran, Diane Turner (ex-officio).

Ex-Officio Members: Diane Turner, Head of Library Human Resources.

Term of Service of Members: Fiscal year.

Length of Service: Two years.

Membership: Open. Appointments staggered.

Selection of Chairman: Appointed by the Director of Human Resources

Term of Service of Chair: Indefinite.

Sub-Committees: Operation of the Staff Center for Multimedia Learning (SCML), Basic skill sets for library staff, Evaluation of multimedia learning software developing library trainers, Implementing the Staff Resource Library.

Principle Areas of Activity: The development of learning activities and programs which contribute to the improvement of work performance among all levels of staff. Identification, recommendation and prioritization of staff training needs within the Library. The design and delivery of Learning Courses (basic competencies) as required. The evalua tion of training and staff development programs with regard to quality and relevance. Coordination of training documentation and curricula for library-wide use, as appropriate. The development of training support materials as needed.

Comments: Sub-committees report progress ion initiatives to the larger committee for further evaluation and feedback. Projects are developed based upon the presenting interests and skills of the committee members as well as identified library staff needs.
