Minutes for October 31, 2001

 

  1. ILL Management System: Carol handed out a draft recommendation for an ILL Management System: Carol had phoned a number of Illiad and RLG Manager users. She reviewed with D2C2 what the users had said were the pros and cons of each system. The group favored Illiad.

  2. New version of Ariel: The discs for the new version are here. Systems tested Ariel 3.01 and feel the product is ready for our use. Law will be getting theirs shortly and SSL's will be installed this week.

     

  3. Budget Proposal: Carol has been asked to submit a budget for the use of a commercial document delivery service. The group discussed various questions: In what circumstances would our departments use a commercial document delivery service? Should we all offer Rush service? If we offer copies for free for all of our users, would they abuse that? What about having to pay for copyright in instances when we usually wouldn't? Members decided that we did want to be able to choose the vendors we use and not be locked into one. Carol will write up a proposal and send it to group members.
