Staffing Issues Group
Minutes, April 18, 2000

Present: Mary Beth Bean, Cesar Rodriguez, Maureen Heher, Emily Horning, Sandy Peterson

1. Group reviewed and revised the first draft of the problem patron policy. The document will be forwarded for review to John Vincenti. John will be asked to attend our next meeting to discuss security issues.
   

2. Suggestions were made that we review and/or contact other libraries about their policies, including New Haven Public Library and Trinity College.
   

3. Group also discussed the use of panic buttons, including portable ones. This issue will be discussed with John Vincenti.
   

4. The group identified a need for there to be a way for staff to know that an incident has been acknowledged/handled. While it is not necessary to divulge the details of how a security violation was resolved but it is important that staff members know that their complaints/incidents are taken seriously.

Next meeting is May 2, 2000, at 3:30 p.m.
