Instruction Group Charge

Statement of Purpose:

The Library's Instruction Program aims

  • To prepare Yale University students to make effective life-long use of information, information sources and systems,

  • To support Yale faculty in providing students skills needed to succeed in completing coursework and research, and

  • To facilitate the campus community's productivity through continuous awareness of information resources and their use.

The Library Instruction Program:

  • The Library staff work with faculty, teaching assistants, ITS staff, and administrators to develop and deliver instructional guides and learning tools, both in print and electronic form, aimed to develop skills needed by undergraduate and graduate students to succeed in coursework at Yale.

  • The Library provides leadership in introducing the campus community to the effective use of electronic information resources.

  • The Library is committed to assess the quality and effectiveness of its Instruction Program and to continuously improve response to the campus educational objectives and programs.
