Minutes, August 10, 1999
Present: Maureen Heher, Emily Horning (recording), Sandy Peterson,
Cesar Rodriguez.
I. The minutes from the last meeting were presented. No changes were made.
II. Sandy reported on her discussion with Diane Turner regarding a budget
for the staff award program. Diane suggested $500. It was suggested
that this amount be increased, especially if it is expected to cover
expenses for a party for student employees. Committee members originally
intended that this party be open to all student employees in the library,
not just nominees, as an incentive. Sandy will present some budget ideas
at our next meeting.
Awards: Bridget Burke has agreed to print award certificates,
and bookplates if we choose (though she does not recommend these). Emily
will ask Bridget how much these awards (up to 7) might cost. Sandy will
consult with Diane Turner and Carolyn Claflin about a place in the Library
for award plaques, and will find out where the plaque for deceased
library staff was made.
Various changes to the draft version of our proposal for a staff award program
were proposed. Sandy will incorporate these into a new version, which
she will present at our next meeting.
The group will meet next on Tuesday, September 14th.
