SQIC Assessment Group Notes and Action Items
Wednesday, February 6, 2002
11:00 - 12:00
SML Room 411

Present: Tony Oddo, Pamela Mann, Jennifer Weintraub, Holly Grossetta Nardini (chair & recording)
Absent: Katie Bauer, Abe Parrish

Minutes:

1. Assessment Toolkit. Jennifer and Pamela showed the draft Web-based toolkit (temporarily at: http://www.library.yale.edu/~jweintra/sqic/sqictoolkit.html) and the group reviewed it and made suggestions. Jen and Pamela will revise the toolkit and submission form, put it into the Front Door templates, and send it to Holly for mounting in the official /assessment directory. We plan to review this one more time at our meeting on March 6 and release it soon after, along with a note to yulib-l about our group's activities.

2. OPAC usability testing. Holly announced that she will meet with Audrey Novak and Ellen Cordes soon. Jen agreed to serve as the committee's lead on this project. The timeframe may be very short.

3. Reference Assessment. The group discussed the problem statement submitted by the SQI Reference Group and agreed that we would like to take on this project, although the end of March timeline in their proposal seems too fast. Holly agreed to contact Sue and determine next steps.

4. Announcements: Holly briefly updated the group on the Fall Reader Survey and announced tentative plans for an assessment of browsing/use of the SML stacks. She also said that she would be briefing SQIC about the Assessment Group's activities in early March.

Action Items:
Holly: Record & post brief minutes, meet with Audrey and Ellen, contact Sue about reference assessment
Jennifer: Make changes to draft toolkit for review at next meeting
Abe: shorten example of reference/instruction assessment, including spreadsheet with dummy data, and send to Jennifer/Pamela by
Tony: Find one article or Web site that explains research methodology of usability testing for next meeting.
Pamela: Make changes to draft toolkit for review at next meeting
Katie: As overlap between FDC and Assessment Group, keep both sides informed of OPAC testing.
