Meeting Minutes for 11/14/01
I. ILL Management System
Carol handed out the draft of our formal recommendation for an Illiad
as our new ILL Management System. Carol had talked to a number of Illiad
users and RLG users and she reviewed the pros and cons of each. This
only helped to reassure us of our choice for a new system.
II. Update on the new version of Ariel
The disks for Ariel 3.01 are here and have been tested by Systems. Law
will be getting theirs shortly and SSL's is coming this week.
III. Budger Proposal for commercial document delivery
Carol asked the group various question on how we might use Infotrieve
or other commercial document delivery systems so that she could determine
the necessary budget to fund our use of these services.
· In what circumstances would we use commercial document delivery?
· Should we all offer Rush service?
· If we offer all copies for free for our users, would patrons
abuse the service?
· Should we set a limit on requests per patron?
· How do we feel about paying copyright unnecessarily?
The group did agree that we should be free to choose the commercial
vendors we want to use. Jennifer felt that Kline could give up the RUSH
option as long as their staff could use commercial services to get needed
items quickly. Carol will write up a proposal and send it to all of
us for review.
IV. SHARES Directory- Carol asked for updates
V. Web version of OCLC- Carol gave out the url for the web version.
She will train us on how to use it sometime within the month.
