On Tuesday, December 3, Yale's Art Gallery and Yale
University Library hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the
completion of construction of the Library Shelving Facility modules
in Hamden. Guests were invited to attend this special event to recognize
the completion of all five additional modules that were originally
designed for the LSF expansion. The Yale Art Gallery temporarily will
occupy three of these modules.
What follows is a pictorial history of the ribbon cutting
ceremony and celebration.

of the facility on this, the fourth anniversary of the opening of

space in the renovation of campus facilities in support of the Arts
and the Library.

To increase protection from fire, two MFL (Maximum Foreseeable Loss)
walls will be built. These are rated to withstand a major fire for
three hours before collapsing, whereby a second wall continues to
provide protection to materials shelved inside. Here, forms for the
footing of the MFL wall between Modules 1 & 2 are constructed..
