The
Collection Development Council (CDC) is charged with identifying,
considering, analyzing, and reporting issues pertinent to the
growth and management of the Yale Library collections. Working
under the direction of the Associate University Librarian, it
may advise her and through her the University Librarian on matters
of policy concerning collection development and related issues
such as preservation and retrospective conversion.
CDC
is a representative body. Each member is expected to communicate
appropriately the deliberations and conclusions of the Council
and to solicit advice and comment from other selectors. The
Council may also prepare the agenda for periodic gatherings
of all selectors at Yale. Librarians who are selectors in Yale
libraries not reporting to the University Librarian may be asked
to participate in and contribute to the Council's work.
The
CDC website includes minutes, published recommendations, member
lists, and collection development aids. It also includes documents,
agendas, and CDC-L list archives for more limited use by members
of the Collection Development Council and its subcommittees.
Some links, therefore, are password protected. Comments and
suggestions are welcomed by the Council.
