Beinecke LibraryMost of the rare, early atlases at Yale are in the Beinecke Rare Book Library. The Beinecke Library also houses a small number of early manuscript maps, notably a collection of portolan charts, the Martellus Germanus world map of ca. 1489, the Vinland Map, amd maps of Western America. Geology LibraryThe Geology Library, located on the third floor of Kline Geology Laboratory, holds approximately 175,000 map sheets.Yale Center for British ArtThe Yale Center for British Art houses a large number of early maps and atlases in their Department of Prints, Drawings, and Rare Books. All the important British cartographers and their landmark works are represented, and there is also a large collection of British county maps.
