| Title: | Horace Walpole (1717-1797), ca. 1727 |
| Description: | Pastel |
I remember when I was a school-boy at Eton, wrote William Cole who became Walpole's chief antiquarian correspondent, calling on Mr Walpole at Chelsea, where Sir Robert, his father, then lived, I found him learning to draw, with Mr Lens the painter with him. On the back of this drawing is written, Horace Walpole, afterwards Earl of Orford, in the hand of Charles Bedford, Walpole's deputy at the Exchequer.
