Walpole has noted on the drawing, "One side of the library at Strawberry Hill, taken from a doorcase in Dugdale's Old St Paul's by Mr Chute." This drawing and those of Richard Bentley, the other member of Walpole's "Committee of Taste," show their adaptation of Gothic details from the plates in such works as Dugdale's St Paul's and Dart's Canterbury in redesigning Strawberry Hill.
