| Title: | The Passion of Jesus, ca. 16th century |
| Description: | Leaded stained glass panel, Netherlands |
This panel illustrates what followed after Judas' betrayal of Jesus and his subsequent imprisonment by the officers of the Pharisees, armed "with lanterns and torches and weapons." When the disciples asked Jesus whether they should smite with the sword, Simon Peter cut off the right ear of the high priest's servant. Jesus answered, "Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?"
