| Title: | A View of the Seat of Belvedere in Vaticano Near Rome, 1750 |
| Description: | Etching and engraving |
The garden of Belvedere was popular with tourists for its pleasant walks, fountains, and exotic trees. In comparing the Belvedere's weather to that of Strawberry Hill, Walpole wrote Mary Berry, "The rain vented itself to the last drop yesterday, and the sun, as bright as in the Belvedere, has not had a wrinkle on his brow since eight o'clock this morning, nay, has been warm, and gilded the gallery and tribune with sterling rays."
