Photocopying Machines
Self-service photocopy machines are located in most Yale libraries.
Yale readers who make use of photocopying facilities are expected to abide
by the regulations of the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United
States Code). Any violations of the Copyright Law at self-service machines are
the responsibility of the reader and are not the responsibility of the Yale University
Library.
The self-service photocopy equipment at all libraries (except for Law, EPH,
and Medical) is operated by CBS Blooms, a Connecticut-based operation that has
been in business for over 20 years. Comments on the effectiveness of the services
are welcomed (see below).
Pricing
Single photocopies cost 15¢ each at all machines; microformat copies
are 20¢ each at microform reader-printers. You can purchase photocopy cards,
which give you an extra number of copies at a lower cost.
Photocopy cards can be purchased at Sterling Memorial, Chemistry, Bass Library,
Divinity, Engineering, Kline, Mudd, Social Science, and Art and Architecture.
Please note that the Yale University Library does not keep a supply of change
to break bills.
The first .40 of the purchase price is for the purchase of the card itself.
The remaining cost goes towards copies. For example, if you were to purchase
a $1 copy card, .40 is charged for the card itself. The copy card then becomes
the property of the buyer. The remaining .60 is available for making copies.
Value may be added to the copy card at any of the libraries mentioned above.
The pricing of adding value to a copy card is:
| $1 |
15 cents/copy |
$1.05 in value |
| $5 |
13 cents/copy |
$5.85 in value |
| $10 |
10.5 cents/copy |
$14.25 in value |
| $20 |
9.5 cents/copy |
$31.50 in value |
You can use the value on your Copico cards until April 30, 2003. You cannot
add additional value to the Copico cards.
$20.00 and $40.00 ($75 in value) cards may be charged to University account
numbers at the Sterling Chemistry Library, the Divinity Library, the Engineering
Library, Kline Science Library, the Library Business Office, and the Library
Privileges Office. Please be sure to have a valid and complete PTAEO number when
making departmental purchases.
