The Arts of the Book Collection (AOB) strives to be a resource for the entire book arts community. However, due to space constraints caused by construction at Sterling Memorial Library and limited AOB staff resources, the library is revising its guidelines for the hosting of non-Yale classes in the Arts of the Book Collection. This policy is effective September 2006, and will be reviewed prior to the move of AOB into the new Arts Library at 180 York Street (scheduled for August 2008).
Classes for non-Yale groups must be scheduled through the Arts Library Special Collections Librarian, Jae Jennifer Rossman [jae.rossman@yale.edu]. Such classes are by appointment only and at the discretion of the librarian. Every effort will be made to accommodate a preferred time and date, however availability is limited. Classes are limited to 15, including accompanying teachers.
Materials to be used during class time must be selected by the teacher of the class and submitted to the Special Collections Librarian for approval at least one week before the scheduled class. AOB staff will pull approved selections so they are ready at the time of the class. AOB staff will strive to make materials available, but reserves the right to limit the use of fragile, in process, or other restricted materials. Arts of the Book Collection staff are not available to give drop-in tours, to create lists of materials for a class to review, or for extended research assistance.
For more information about the resources and services available through the AOB, please consult its website at: http://www.library.yale.edu/aob/ or call 203.432.1712.
