Established in
the late 1860s, the Art & Architecture Library has recently
relocated to its temporary location at 270 Crown Street. In the
two years that the library will be housed here, renovation and construction
will begin on its original location, the Art & Architecture
Building at 180 York Street as well as the lot next to it. The library
currently contains approximately 80,000 volumes on architecture,
painting, graphic design, photography, urban planning, and the history
of art and architecture. It serves as the working library for the
schools of Art and Architecture, the History of Art Department,
and the Yale University Art Gallery, and as adjunct library for
the Yale Center for British Art. The A&A Library offers regular
reference desk service, library instruction, and other research
services for students, faculty, and staff.
