Circulation
privileges
Yale's circulation policies are designed to permit prompt and equitable
access to library materials. The staff at circulation service desks
are focused on meeting the research needs of the library's readers.
Registered students, faculty, staff and affiliates of Yale University
may borrow library materials.
Library privileges may also be granted to researchers not affiliated
with Yale. All non-Yale researchers who wish to use the Yale collections
must register in person at the Privileges Office (located in Sterling
Memorial Library) Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. On
Saturdays, assistance with privileges is offered at the Sterling
Memorial Library Circulation Desk from 10:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.

Students and staff may check out one book at a time for one

slip in each book is the only notice patrons will receive before
fines are assessed.

of the Book: The Arts of the Book Collection is non-circulating.
- Classics
Library: The Classics Library Collection is non-circulating.
- Drama
Library: Drama materials circulate for 2 months.
- Visual
Resources Collection:

at Yale University. Please contact the VRC (432-2440 or 432-2444)
for more information.
Charging
Arts Library Materials to the Visual Resources Collection (VRC)
For improved security and tracking purposes, from now on, the Arts
Library staff will only charge to individual patrons Arts Library
books needed for image processing in the VRC. You will still need
to transport Arts Library materials to the VRC, and staff there
will continue to assist you in preparing your image processing orders.
Once the books are physically received at the VRC office, Arts Library
staff will re-charge them on a daily basis to a VRC account; until
that time, you are responsible for the material and the usual circulation
policies apply. Materials from other libraries to be used in the
VRC may still be "Eli-Expressed" to the Arts Library for transfer,
or charged to your personal account directly from those locations.
Renewals
Yale students, staff, and affiliates with valid Yale NetIDs may
renew one Art & Architecture Library book online through Orbis
up to three times. After that, if you still
need the book, you must bring it to the A&A Library for renewal.

here.
Exceptions
to online renewals:
- You
must renew your book before 11:59 PM on the day that it is due.
- No
renewals on overdue books. If you try to renew a book after 11:59
PM on the day it is due, its status will be overdue.
- No
renewals on recalled books. If your title is recalled, you must
return it immediately to the Art and Architecture library. All
Art & Architecture books that are returned to other libraries
will be considered overdue and will accrue a $5.00 fine for every
day that they are late.
- No
