2009-2010 FELLOWSHIPS FOR YALE GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL STUDENTS

The program offers two application deadlines: October 20 and March 20 -- please click on the Research Fellowship link for details.

The Beinecke offers Pre-Prospectus Summer Fellowships to enable Yale Graduate students to determine how Beinecke collections may serve their research needs as they prepare and hone their prospectuses.

The Beinecke also offers up to two Academic Year Research Fellowships to support Yale graduate students whose dissertations involve materials from the Beinecke collections. The purpose of the fellowships is to provide Yale doctoral students the opportunity for uninterrupted dissertation research during the academic year at a time optimal for their academic progress.

Please note that only students whose proposals demonstrate a need for extensive use of Beinecke materials have been chosen for these awards.  Awarded fellows may not hold concurrent fellowships or teaching positions.

Awarded fellows are expected to dedicate a minimum of 25 hours of research in the Beinecke collections per week throughout the fellowship period .  Please note that attendance will be monitored and stipends will be adjusted to reflect shortened research period.  At the end of the research period, fellows are also asked to provide a brief statement indicating how this fellowship support was used to accomplish research goals.

The Beinecke Graduate Fellows’ Summer Colloquium: Summer fellows (with fellowship periods in June, July, or August) will be required to participate in semi-monthly meetings, chaired by Beinecke curators, where all fellows will have an opportunity to present briefly on their research in the Beinecke collections.  A link to the Summer 2008 Colloquium schedule assignments can be found at the top of this page.

Please note that the stipends quoted on this page are 2008-2009 rates and subject to change.
