USE OF BEINECKE CLASSROOMS Four seminar rooms are available for use by Yale faculty members who wish to exhibit to their students enrolled in Yale University courses Beinecke materials relating to a particular class lecture. These rooms must be scheduled in advance, preferably early in the term for classes wishing to meet more than once during a semester, and call slips should be submitted at least three working days before the class meeting. For additional information, or to schedule a seminar room, use the “Room Request Form” below – or contact the Beinecke Public Services desk (203-432-2972), email beinecke.library@yale.edu, or come to the Beinecke Library Public Services desk. You may place an online request for a room and submit the list of items to be exhibited in the class. The seminars rooms are: Room 15 and room 28: Capacity of 12 students each. Room 38 and room 39: Capacity of 20 students each. If both rooms 38 and 39 are free, they can be combined for larger classes, up to 70 students, lecture style. All seminar rooms are equipped with: podium, Windows-equipped and networked computer (with built-in DVD player), VCR, projector, and audio equipment (tape and CD). However, please specify in advance which equipment will be needed so rooms can be set up properly for your use. The following equipment has limited availability: one slide projector; two microphones (rooms 38 and 39 only); and one document camera/overhead projector (recommended for rooms 38 and 39 only) These may be requested for use, on a first-come, first-served basis. It is recommended that instructors wishing to use equipment arrive at least 15 minutes prior to classes to be instructed on equipment operation. Notes: Classes may be relocated to other seminar rooms within the Beinecke Library in the event that a classroom is needed for a special function. Students attending a class in a Beinecke seminar room are to follow standard reading room rules* – leaving coats and bags at the upstairs guard desk and bringing only paper and pencil into seminar rooms. Items from Beinecke collections are to be handled only by the faculty member or library staff. Materials should not be passed around to students during class time. Students are welcome to use materials individually in the Reading Room. Please review the Guidelines for using seminar rooms with your students in preparation for your visit. |
