Undergraduates not enrolled in Yale College who are interested in manuscripts or archival collections should present a letter of introduction from their academic advisor or college librarian.

Requesting Materials

Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done during business hours. All requests for Beinecke materials must be placed through our online requesting system, Aeon, http://aeon-brbl.library.yale.edu/. Once you have filled out the pre-registration form and logged in, use the "Place Request" link on the left to access the online requset form. We ask that you fill out one form per box of archival material.

Material that is stored within the main Beinecke building will be paged when you arrive. It typically takes twenty minutes to retrieve materials from the stacks. Some Beinecke material is stored off-site and must be requested two days in advance. Collections housed off-site will be identified in Orbis, the Library’s catalog, with the following information “LSF- BEINECKE.”

Permission is required for access to some materials. Certain collections may be closed for processing.  Please consult the Closed Collections Schedule, for a list of closed archival collections.
