GIVING TO THE BEINECKE LIBRARY

Donations

The rich and diverse Beinecke collections, and indeed the building that holds them, bring to fruition the thought and effort of generations of loyal alumni, scholars, and friends of the University. Donations of collections or single items that directly support or complement the Beinecke Collections should be brought to the attention of the appropriate curator. If you are uncertain which curator is most appropriate, contact the Public Services Department.

For gifts of support for Library projects and development priorities, please contact Lucy.Lewis@yale.edu.

The Yale Library Associates

The Yale Library Associates was founded in 1930 to support and strengthen the Yale libraries. Members are invited to lectures, exhibitions, openings, receptions, performances, and symposia throughout the year. Topics range from ancient texts to modern literature and music, and members are encouraged to share their interests with others. Donations to the Yale Library Associates in the form of membership dues, individual gifts of money or books, and bequests have been essential in adding books and other research materials to the Yale Libraries.

In the past, gifts from members have been designated for the Yale Library Associates Endowment Fund, which exclusively supports purchases of rare books and manuscripts, or the Yale Library Associates Celebration Fund, which supports digitization, cataloging, and preservation. You may still designate your gifts for either or both of these funds, but in addition, you may now designate gifts for the Yale Library Associates University Librarian's Discretionary Fund where they will be applied to any of the Library's current funding priorities.

If you are interested in joining the Yale Library Associates, the annual dues are as follows:
Friend: $100 ($25 for students; $50 for Yale staff)
Sponsor: $250-$999
Patron: $1000-$4,999
Benefactor: $5,000 or greater
Life membership: All those who have given $50,000 or more to the Yale University Library, whether cumulatively or in a single gift, will be recognized and honored as Life members of the Yale Library Associates. Yale Library Associates who wish to make donations of over $50,000 may contact Lucy.Lewis@yale.edu to discuss the disposition of their gifts to an area beyond the three alternatives indicated above.
