DOWNLOADING IMAGES FOR PERSONAL AND RESEARCH PURPOSES

The Beinecke's Digital Images Online Database contains tens of thousands of digital images of rare and unique material including photographs, works of art, printed items, and manuscripts from the library's holdings. These low resolution digital images may be freely downloaded for personal, research, and study purposes only. The Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library should always be cited as the source. Download with Internet Explorer (IE) and Mozilla Firefox

1. Click on an image to see bring up a larger image to download.
2. On the larger image, or on the original thumbnail or screen-sized image, place the cursor over the image and RIGHT CLICK with the mouse.

3. Choose the SAVE PICTURE AS option (see below).

4. Choose a location on your computer, such as the Desktop, to place this image.
5. Click SAVE.



Downloading for Apple/Mac users

1. Place the mouse over the image you want to download.
2. Hold the mouse button down until a menu screen pops up or select CONTROL + CLICK. (Or select and drag the image on to the desktop.)
3. Choose a location to save the image from the menu.
4. Click SAVE.
