Dear Colleagues,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that OCLC has completed the retrospective conversion of the Official Catalog and the Serials Catalog. These projects have resulted in the conversion of approximately 2 million titles over the last three years. To give you a sense of the scale of this project -- we are talking about more than 10,000 boxes of catalog cards weighing tons. When we began three years ago, less that 40% of the collection was online, now more than 95% is online. We will complete the conversion of the Near East and Hebrew collections in the next year. The East Asia Collection will be completed in 2003.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Catalog Management Team. I have the highest praise for their work and the dedication they have displayed for this project. We could not have done it without them.
