Selecting copy from RLIN and OCLC

--DRAFT--9/27/99

If a matching record is found in OCLC or RLIN and it meets the Yale guidelines for standard cataloging copy, use it as the basis for your record.

Consult the verification guidelines to determine if the record matches your item.

RLIN
Consider a monographic bibliographic record found in RLIN to be standard copy for cataloging purposes if it falls into one of the groups listed below. Any record that does not meet these criteria is considered non-standard copy. If a record meets the standard criteria listed below but lacks a usable call number it is still considered standard.  A standard record in RLIN can be identified by the following cc values:

 9110
 9111
 9112
 9114
 9115
 9116

 9410
 9411
 9412
 9414
 9415
 9416

If none of the above are available, take 9665 if there are LC subjects and 300 field is completed.
