1. MARS Test File QA
The committee is very close to finishing its QA of the second re-processing of the MARS test file records. No major new problems have been identified and the fixes that MARs implemented in response to our earlier QAs have been verified.
2. Tentative Plan for MARS Extract
The tentative date for our first production extract of bibliographic records for MARS has been set for Monday, April 14th. The records should be processed by MARS, returned, and loaded back into Orbis by the end of that week. We will start with current cataloging and then play catch-up with the gap records later. A new batch of current cataloging will be extracted each Monday.
The East Asian Library catalogers will begin exporting their records to MARS after receiving ExportQ training. We will schedule a separate processing for the CJK RLIN snapshot records and all CJK records cataloged after the snapshot but prior to the date of first MARS export.
3. ExportQ Training
ExportQ training must be completed before the first MARS extract. The training is slated for the week of April 7th-11th. Four identical sessions will be offered, co-presented by Audrey Ho and Manon. The training will largely be a refresher for those who have been exporting records. However, some people will be receiving the training for the first time.
These are people who need the warning message functionality of the program but not the exporting functionality. The "do not edit" warning messages will start to appear after the first MARS extract.
Some ACAC members reported that they (and staff in their units) have been experiencing problems with the ExportQ program generating error messages and crashing. Manon will pass this this information along to programming staff in the Library Systems Office and warn staff during the ExportQ training.
