1. OCLC NACO Training
Margaret Lourie (NELINET) has agreed to do OCLC NACO training for Yale catalogers. Committee members will put together an outline of topics to be covered during the training, identify Yale documentation that will need to be revised because of the switch to OCLC, and begin experimenting with OCLC NACO record creation/update. Manon will also conduct a site visit to Columbia on Aug.22 to see how their NACO operations work (they use OCLC).
Committee members divided up tasks as follows:
1. List of local NACO-related web documentation that will need revising: Stephen
2. Training needs (i.e. what the OCLC NACO training should cover)
Mickey and Ellen:
--searching headings in the authority file
--searching headings in the bib file
Cecile and Maria:
--creating authority records
--updating authority records
Steven and Rick:
--macros/constant data/templates/keymaps/shortcuts
--exporting authority records and importing them into Orbis
Manon:
--NACO review process (including working with save files)
3. OCLC vs. RLIN comparison chart for fixed fields and for terminology (e.g. produce vs. add): Sarah
The remainder of the meeting was spent discussing the draft training outline and what it should contain.
