Communications
Committee Bulletin 8, June 1, 2004
Questions and Answers The Communications
Committee has received many suggestions and comments from YUL staff. Some have
asked what happens to the suggestions that are sent to us. The committee reviews
suggestions, questions, and comments in our regular meetings. If an action is
required, one of the three sub-groups works on it. If the action is beyond the
scope of our charge, we forward the suggestion to the appropriate person in the
library. We will soon update our website to include a running list of questions,
comments, and suggestions. We will also occasionally post responses in Library
Links. The goal is to ensure two-way communication and to respond to those who
have taken the time to give us feedback. Some responses to suggestions follow ·
There should be a box where employees who don't have access to a computer or want
to be sure that their comments/suggestions are actually anonymous can be placed.
I think the ideal location in SML would be the SPOON. The box should be opened
only by the Communications Committee. Response: DONE · CC should
look at communications in a very broad sense. Response: The CC agrees. We keep
this in mind in our discussions and when deciding on certain projects. ·
How about a recycling bin for paper in the Spoon? Response: Referred to John Vicente
and Diane Tuner · Signs reserving either room of the Spoon should
have the date and time (including prep time) of the reservation and should be
removed after the event. Response: The CC agreed that this was a good idea. Referred
to Diane Turner REMINDER Please join us at the CC Update to Staff
(reprise). The update is scheduled for Thursday June 10 at 2:30 in the Sterling
Memorial Library Lecture Hall. We hope to see you there.
