Library Teaching & Learning Experimental Space
The Teaching & Learning Experimental Space is temporarily located in the Sterling Memorial Library nave. We encourage exploration and feedback on how spaces and collaboration can support teaching and learning. The use and purposing of this space may change over the course of the next few months as new services are tested.
Self-Service Multi-Media Area
Yale faculty, staff and registered students are invited to use equipment available
here to create, reformat, and incorporate digitized materials for use in teaching and study.
Various equipment and associated instruction materials are located online and in the Self-Service Multi-Media Area. Persons using this lab assume
responsibilities for respecting intellectual property rights; see: http://www.library.yale.edu/eli/copyright/.
ITS and Library Systems staff are available by appointment for consultation
and initial training in use of equipment in the lab. As appropriate, referrals
to other campus service sites will be made for additional help identifying,
locating, and digitizing instructional and research materials. If you experience problems using this equipment, please submit a Request for Assistance.
Technology Troubleshooting Office
Yale undergraduate and graduate students in the Arts & Sciences can bring their laptop computers and seek help here from ITS Computing Assistants. Computing Assistants are available for drop-in help, although appointments are preferred. Personal assistance includes, for example, configuring Proxy Server remote access to the campus network, reviewing virus protection software, and configuring
Yale email spam management utilities. To arrange an appointment see: http://www.yale.edu/cas/. To review hours of support see: http://research.yale.edu/css/helpdesk.jsp.
Experimental Space
This space is offered by reservation for small groups of Yale faculty, registered students, and/or staff to encourage collaborative teaching and study. Consultations with staff from such service units as the Library, ITS, McDougal Graduate Teaching Center, and Center for Language Study involving information
resources, technology or pedagogy are welcome to occur here. We invite exploration of furniture, and the interaction of technology, information resources and teaching support, and encourage feedback about what is needed to design a flexible learning environment.
The alcove area is available for study sessions, collaborative materials development, and the use of instructional technologies. It is equipped with a SmartBoard, which is an interactive whiteboard.
Submit requests for reservations or training on the use of the SmartBoard to Web, Workstation & Digital Consulting Services.
Download the latest version of the SmartBoard software for installation on your personal computer.
