Due Soon Notice
For non-reserve items, the Library sends a courtesy reminder notice one week before a book is due.
Overdue Notices
1st overdue notice: Sent one day after a book becomes overdue.
2nd overdue notice: Sent 17 days after the due date. When applicable, the notice/s will specify whether an item is overdue from recall.

Notices are mailed to addresses (either electronic or postal) supplied by university registrars and personnel offices. Yale email is used for all library notices unless the reader has no e-mail address.
Recall Notices
The Library sends a recall notice the day after the recall request is placed. The recalled item must be returned by the date indicated in the recall notice.
Notices are mailed to addresses supplied by university registrars and personnel offices. The reader is responsible for notifying the library and these offices promptly of any change in address.
Circulation privileges are automatically accorded to those holding valid Yale photo identification cards with a current validation sticker. The policies on this website generally apply to "books." Other types of loans might be subject to different policies.
