Dear Tom,

The Steering Committee of the Canadian National Site Licensing Project / Projet canadien de licences de site nationales (CNSLP / PCLSN) met on March 22-23, 2000 and considered, among other business, principles for licensing electronic resources under the Project.

The Steering Committee was unanimous in its decision to endorse two statements issued by the International Coalition of Library Consortia (ICOLC), to serve as a foundation for additional licensing and access principles specific to the Project and in the Canadian context.

I am therefore pleased to request that you add the endorsement of the CNSLP / PCLSN to the following ICOLC documents:

ICOLC Statement of Current Perspective and Preferred Practices for the Selection and Purchase of Electronic Information (1998)

ICOLC Guidelines for Statistical Measures of Usage of Web-Based Indexed, Abstracted, and Full Text Resources (1998)

The Steering Committee is grateful for the work of the international library community in the development of these principles and guidelines, and is pleased to add the weight of the Canadian national project to their promulgation.

Sincerely,

Deb deBruijn
