Using the Minolta PS7000 Scanner

The Digital Conversion Facility bought the Minolta open-book scanner for text scanning. If you would like to scan something in a bound volume, or pages of text, this is the easiest and fastest scanner to use. It supports documents up to 17 X 23 inches. We recommend you use the ProScanBook software, which uses the ISIS driver that allows us to take full advantage of the qualities of the scanner.

The Minolta does not support greyscale or color scanning. If you need to scan images along with text, we recommend you scan the image on the flatbed and insert it into the Project you start in ProScan Book. Ask us if you have questions about this.

To use the PS7000, you must turn it on before starting up the computer. Therefore, you will usually have to turn it on (on the left bottom side of the machine) and Restart the terminal. When you are finished scanning, you can simply turn off the PS7000. Please replace the foam cover on the bed of the scanner to keep dust away.

You should log off the computer when you are finished, but you need not shut down.
