The Alumni Fund for Library Resources

Did you know that Yale College alumni can make Alumni Fund gifts that directly benefit the Library?  That's right, by selecting "Library Resources" as the area of support on an Alumni Fund contribution card or the "Giving to Yale" website, you can help the Library and the University as a whole with budget-relieving resources.

Through the Alumni Fund for Library Resources, alumni provide flexible and readily-accessible income that allows the Library to respond to new challenges and seize exciting opportunities.  Recently, these gifts have helped underwrite several important endeavors, including a student outreach program that pairs librarians with incoming freshman (the Personal Librarian Program), a new service that delivers print content to Library users in digital format (“Scan and Deliver”), and continuing efforts to make the Library’s holdings even more accessible to students and researchers.  By supporting the Library through the Alumni Fund, all alumni can play a crucial role in the Library’s—and Yale’s—success.

The Yale University Library has a direct and significant impact on the life and work of every student and faculty member at Yale.  The inspired teaching, groundbreaking research, and dynamic student experiences for which Yale is justly famous are all immeasurably enriched by the remarkable physical collections, innovative digital resources, and expert staff of the Library.  By any measure, it is one of the best and most accessible libraries in the world.

From Isaac Newton (who donated the second edition of his Principia in 1715) to the present day, friends and alumni have demonstrated their belief in Yale University by supporting its Library.  If you would like to help uphold this noble tradition please consider supporting the Alumni Fund for Library Resources.  Thousands of students, faculty, and researchers who rely upon the Library will thank you.

Anyone who supports the Alumni Fund for Library Resources is also eligilbe for membership in the Yale Library Associates, through which they will be kept informed about Library news, and be invited to lectures, exhibitions, openings, receptions, performances, and symposia throughout the year.
