Curators

Curators are the stewards of some of the longest established and most significant collections of scholarly resources in their fields. They manage relationships with publishers and libraries in their regions or subject areas and work closely with Yale’s international scholars to maintain world-class collections. The library seeks funding for curators of the following collections: Maps; East Asian; Latin American; South-East Asian; Slavic and Eastern European; African; and South Asian. New endowment funding will provide lasting support for these positions, helping to defray salaries and benefits and freeing other resources for the library’s operating budget.

The Curator coordinates the Library's overall collection building and service programs related to maps and cartography, and leads efforts to apply new technologies to the storage and manipulation of geographic information. The Curator will also be responsible for an ambitious program of digitization that will make the contents of the Yale map collection far more widely available, and searchable, to a world-wide community of cartographic researchers.
