Endowed Positions

University Librarian
$5,000,000

The position of University librarian calls for a person of scholarly background and high administrative abilities. The librarian manages a staff of 600 and a highly complex budget, while relating to faculty and students and negotiating the fast-changing needs of the academic infrastructure in the twenty-first century. The job also calls for diplomatic skills to position Yale at the forefront of scholarly information and research provision. Yale University Library is one of the world’s leading research libraries and second largest university library in North America, but it is among the few that have no named position at the top. To perpetuate the long line of University librarians of high caliber and international standing, the University seeks an endowment of at least $5 million.
