How to use the Internet: Using a known internet address
Sometimes, you may know the internet address of a site you want to visit, either because you've heard or read about it, or because you've been there before and have made a note of it. To use a known address, or URL:
- From your browser's File menu, choose Open Location or Open URL.
- Type the URL exactly as written, e. g. http://www.yale.edu/acad.html
- Choose Open or OK to go the site .
If you're using Netscape, you can instead just type the URL in the Location: and press the Enter or Return key. Other browsers may have a similar shortcut.
Try going straight to the site http://www.yale.edu/acad.html using one of these methods.
