Issues: Authority

Following through this guide, you will have gained a sense of the sheer volume of information available on the Internet. Add to this the consideration that anyone, anywhere with the right equipment can add to this store of information. The task of finding the needles of valuable resources in this unthinkably large haystack is daunting. Some of the directories and searches are selective in their inclusion of Internet sites, but the criteria they use are not always clear and certainly will not discriminate between sites with valuable resources for the study of religion and those which are worthless or misleading. Beyond one's own judgement, there seems little but the Internet equivalent of hearsay: following links from site to another.
