Setting Up Your Computer to Print to the Library's Printer: MacOS 10.4
Before you send a print job, you must install the printer where your job will be sent:
- Open the Applications folder. Click on Utilities.
- Click on Printer Setup Utility.
- If you have no printers already installed, you will receive the following prompt: "You have no printers available. Would you like to add to your list of printers now?". Click Add to continue.
If you do not get this prompt, click on the Add icon. - In the window that appears, select the IP Printer icon. Select Line Printer Daemon -LPD, and enter uniprintps7.its.yale.edu. Enter the "DivLib Public Printer" into the box following Queue:. Leave Generic PostScript Printer selected.
- Click Add to save your changes. You should then see the printer as one of your available printers.
- From here, printing is the same as it is on any Macintosh OS X computer. Open the document you would like to print, and then choose Print from the File menu.
- Make sure that the printer you selected is listed in the upper portion of the box. Then click on the Print button, and your job will be sent to the printer queue. You can then go to the Divinity Library's public printer (on the 2nd floor, near the back of the Trowbridge Reference Room) and release your job using the print station next to the printer you selected. On the print station, the print job will appear under the name of the local account name on your computer.
