Setting Up Your Computer to Print to the Library's Printer: Windows 2000 & XP

Before you send a print job, you must install the printer where your job will be sent:

  1. Choose Run from the Start menu, which is probably in the lower left corner of your screen.
  2. In the Run box, type \\uniprintps7 and then click on the OK button. A list of printers should be displayed. If this path does not work, try substituting \\uniprintps7.its.yale.edu.
  3. Look for "DivLib Public Printer" and double-click on it. A message will appear, telling you that the printer must be setup before it can be used. Click Yes. The Add Printer Wizard will then run.
  4. If the setup has gone well, you should see a print queue window on your screen. This window does not need to be open, so you can close it if you'd like. You have now setup a printer.
  5. From here, printing is the same as it is under any other circumstances. Open the document you would like to print, and then choose Print from the File menu.
  6. Select the printer you would like to print to from the Name box. Then click on the OK button, and your job will be sent to the printer queue. You can then go to the Divinity Library's public printer (on the 2nd floor, near the back of the Trowbridge Reference Room) and release your job using the print station next to the printer you selected. On the print station, the print job will appear under the name of the local account name on your computer.
