Display Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Scripts in Orbis

Yale University Library online catalog, Orbis, can display Chinese, Japanese, and Korean scripts. So, how to see Chinese, Japanese, or Korean characters?

1. Find the record you want and select "LONG VIEW" from the three different viewing options above the record display in the middle of the screen. ("BRIEF VIEW" is the default.)

2. Then scroll down to the "Original Language" section at the end of the record. The "original language" display corresponds to the English bibliographic information.

Example:

Author: 貝塚 茂樹, 1904-
Title: 古代中国 : 原始・殷周・春秋 戦国 / 貝塚 茂樹, 伊藤 道治.
Variant Title: 中国 の 歴史
Published: 東京 : 講談社, 2000.
Series Title: 講談社学術文庫 ; 1419。
Also listed under: 伊藤 道治, 1925-

*Any fields containing original script (such as notes and subject fields) will also display.*

In addition to Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, and Yiddish scripts also currently display in Orbis. For more information, please visit "Displaying Non-Roman Scripts in Orbis"

Please note that this is still a "display" only feature. Users cannot search for CJK scripts in Orbis at present.
