10/14 Introducing Chinese Primary Resources @ Yale

Are you looking for primary resources in Chinese for your senior essays, course projects, or research papers? This workshop will introduce Chinese primary resources from Yale library collections. It is intended for those working on China-related senior essays, but it would be also useful for many others who are interested in using Chinese primary resources for their study and research.
10/21 Introducing Chinese Reference Resources: Duxiu 读秀, Chinese Reference Book Database 中国工具书资源全文数据库, and Guji tushu jicheng 古今图书集成

Reference resources are always your first stop to start a research. This session will show you three important online Chinese reference resources that are available in the East Asia Library:
• Duxiu 读秀, also known as Chinese Google Scholar, a NEW huge content-based database consisting of 600,000,000 full text pages, with very flexible searches (full-text, books, journal and newspaper articles, theses, conference proceedings, etc.).
• Chinese Reference Book Database 中国工具书资源全文数据库, a full-text database that includes essential Chinese reference titles such as Hanyu da cidian 汉语大词典, Ci hai 辞海 and Zhongguo dabaike quanshu 中国大百科全书, etc.
• Gujin tushu jicheng 古今图书集成, a major Chinese encyclopedia which is now available online.
10/28 Online Resources for Chinese Classical Texts

Do you know that the East Asia Library owns a number of Chinese databases that include Chinese classical texts? This session will show you all the resources, including the Siku Quanshu 四庫全書, Scripta Sinica 漢藉電子文獻, etc., and share with you search tips in these databases.
