10/13 Introducing Japanese Primary Resources in Western Languages
Instructors: Haruko Nakamura, Librarian for Japanese Collection
Ellen Hammond, Curator of the East Asia Library
Time and Place: 4:00 –5:00 pm, SML 207
It is challenging to write a history paper which must include primary sources on Japan when you do not read Japanese. This session will introduce Japanese primary sources in Western languages, including unique archival and rare materials related to Japan at Yale, as well as other library resources such as newspapers and books. Tips on creative uses of primary sources will be provided as part of the session. At the end of session, if there are some interests, we will also provide a brief introduction to Japanese language primary sources including special collections at Yale.
