A. Access to most Yale electronic resources is available from Beida (Peking University)
Technical issue
Legal / license issues
- Access is only available to Yale students and faculty (need Yale NetID to set up)
- Systematic downloading is prohibited
- Some database providers may not even allow off-campus access
B. Beida library's electronic resources
Available to both Beida students as well as Yale students in Beida
May be customized for Chinese speakers and less friendly to English speakers

Main Library Opening hours
- Building: 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. (Closes at 5p.m. on Sat.)
- Circulation and Main Reference: 8am to 10pm, Mon-Fri
- Some reading rooms and services: 8 to 11:30am and 1 to 5pm (lunch break)
Stacks access
- Open stacks for newer (1990s-) books
- Closed stacks for older books (need to fill out request slip and wait for staff retrieval)
Circulation policy
- Loan period: one month for books;
- Online renewal available
Course reserve
- Use in the Course Reserve Reading Room, usually no checkout
Interlibrary loan
- Can get books from other Chinese libraries
- May take too long to request books from American libraries
Photocopying
- Self-service available
- Different fee structure for foreigners (not sure if this applies to the Yale people in this program)
