Directions
for creating Groups and Presentations in Insight (HTML
version)
1)
Before creating a group, you need to find a set of
images to put into the group. You can do this either
by browsing through the Insight collection(s) or doing
a search. To search, select "Search" on
the left-hand side of the Insight screen.
2)
Search--You can search by keywords or data fields.
Once you have found a set of images, select the ones
you wish to put into a group by single clicking on
each image. A white outline will appear around your
selected images.
3)
Create Group--To create a group go to the "File"
menu and choose "New Group." A new blank
window should appear called "New Group 1."
Drag your selected images from the right-hand window
to the new group window by clicking on one of the
selected images and dragging and dropping it into
the new group window. All your selected images should
appear in "New Group 1".
4)
Save Group--To save your group go to the "File"
menu and choose "Save Group." Name the group
with your last name and the course number, i.e. Jones

Presentations
Presentations
are part of a saved Group. To made a presentation, you
must first open an existing group.

Once a group is open, select "Create Presentation"
from the "Group" menu in the Group Window.
2)
Selecting "Create Presentation" transfers
you to the Image Workspace and displays the Presenation
Thumbnail Window with the thumbnail images from your
group. If the images in your group are already in
the order you want them for your presentation, select
"Save and Close" in the lower right-hand
corner of the Presentation Thumbnail Window.
You
can also make the following changes to your presentation:
2)
Order images--to change the image order, select the
image you want to move (the selected image is outlined
in white). Click and hold on the selected image and
drag it to the preferred position, release the mouse.
3)
Copying/removing/restoring images--to copy an image
so it appears more than once in a presentation or
to create a detail, select the image and click "Copy".
To remove an image from the presentation, select the
image you want to remove and click on "Cut."
This removes the image from the presentation, but
not from the group.
To restore a "Cut" image to the presentation,
select the image you want to restore and click "Restore."
4)
Linking image (creating comparisons)--As the default,
when an image is shown during a presentation, it appears
in sequence order as a full image, and then disappears
when the next image is shown. Linking images allows
you to view the next image while keeping previously
shown image(s) on the screen. To link images, select
the first image you want to appear (it hsouel be highlighted
in white). Then click "Link." The next image
(the linked image) should be outlined in purple. To
unlink images, select the original image (the image
outlined in white). Click "Unlink" to unlink
the last linked image.
