guide provides information for image, video, and audio
study for this course. You will find directions for
using both the African American
Studies Digital Library and Insight.
You will need to download Quicktime
5.02 to view the videos in the African
American Studies Digital Library and Insight.

The
African American Studies Digital Collection
The African American Studies Digital Collection is a
web interface that allows for the search, discovery
and retrieval of images. You
can perform a quick search on keywords, which searches
a brief cataloging record for each image.
Images
returned as a result of your search will appear in gallery
screens, usually with four images across and twenty
images per page. If there is more than one page you
will have the ability to page forward and backwards
through the pages.

Insight
You
will need to download the Insight client software from
the Luna
Insight Software Download page. Directions for installing
both the Mac and PC version of the software are included
on that page.
Opening
Insight
When using Insight, open the Visual Resources Collection.
Select the Visual Resources Collection so it is highlighted
in yellow and click Select.

reporting server problems:
8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Monday-Friday):
Visual Resources Collection: 432-2443. Give a brief
explanation of your problem, e.g., the Insight server
is not responding to your machine. Report any error
messages.
5:01 PM - 8:29 AM (Monday-Friday); 24 hrs (Sat/Sun):
ITS Machine Room: 432-6506. Ask that the ITS Library
Projects Group Staff Member on call be paged and give
a brief explanation of the problem.
