Finding Aids Coordinating Committee Charge
The Finding Aids Coordinating Committee (FACC) is charged with maintaining YUL's Finding Aids Program. The Committee coordinates all matters pertaining to the development and maintenance of best practices related to the creation, management and delivery of electronic finding aids and outreach about the program.
The FACC is concerned with staff tools related to finding aids (e.g., the finding aids authoring tool, digital repository staff management functions, and other centrally maintained applications related to managing archival materials) as well as public interfaces for electronic finding aids. This group works closely with collection owners engaged in the creation and management of online finding aids, Cataloging staff supporting EAD, and ILTS staff who support staff and public interfaces and other software applications for finding aids.
Members:
- Establish, publish and maintain best practices for the creation and delivery of finding aids.
- Make available appropriate training and other outreach activities regarding staff and public interfaces and other software applications for finding aids.
- Are actively engaged in the assessment and ongoing development of staff and public finding aids interfaces and software applications.
- Maintain a website of best practices and the committee's activities.
- Keep current with national developments related to EAD and electronic finding aids.
Term of Appointment:
One year with option to renew. Initial appointments will be staggered to ensure continuity going forward.
Time Commitment:
Chair 5% (1day/month), members 2.5% (0.5 day per month)
