MetaLib Interface Change Requests
MetaLib changes are requested by Yale staff or proposed by PIC committee members. Below are the current MetaLib Change Requests under consideration by PIC.
MetaLib changes are made in a yearly cycle.
For more information about MetaLib, see the MetaLib Information Page.
Fall 2006 Requests
- Is it possible to set the default "Find Database" title search for automatic truncation? A search for "dissertation" produces no results because the database name is plural.(KSL)
- Add INfoTrac to the list of databases on the Find Database screen so it is listed with that small, select group of databases on the opening screen - like Academic Search Premiere, Google Scholar, LexisNexis Academic, Scopus, etc.(SSL, CodGer)
- Add InfoTrac to the Articles Quickset(SSL, CodGer)
-
Can there be links for the Next and Previous pages in the Find Database lists? (SSL)
- At the top of a database list, can the interface display (for example) "A - L" instead of "ABI/Inform - LexisNexis Statistical"? (SSL)
Summer 2006 Requests
- "Table view" doesn't make sense to patrons. Maybe change to List view. (Sue Roberts)
- Find Database "Other Options" tab is not interpreted as the place for more search types. Maybe change to More Search Options or More Searches or Other Searches or Additional Searches (Sue Roberts)
- Changing the "database is not currently available" message to indicate to try the Fine Database or use our Ask a Librarian service, or a link to a service for reporting broken links (in development in E-Collections). For PIC to discuss. (Audrey, Kalee)
- Make the 'Go' button sensitive to the 'return' key, so you don't have to click on it to go
- Change the 'Step 1, Step 2, Step 3' colors in Multi-DB (she wants to add a border around them)
- Make database titles in the Results screens a little bigger (Tobin Nellhaus)
- In multi-database searching, be allowed to re-order the databases in a subcategory so that they can be in order of "importance" (according to the selector) instead of alpha order (SSL via Julie Linden)
