PIC Minutes

1. Announcements
International FD translation: Julie gave the text we had approved to Ann Okerson
who asked curators to translate the content for their areas of expertise.
WebTrends Task Force: Katie announced that the task force has been formed. (WebTrends
is web server log analysis software.) The most important priority is make data
available so that trends in usage of our web site can be observed over time.
2. OPAC change requests -- proposal for temporary moratorium on changes
A document was distributed listing upcoming OPAC projects and pending requests
for change. The committee decided to organize the list into categories and prioritize
the items.
3. Changes to Online Journals
Several enhancements are being tested:
a. Subject headings included in online journal search:

b. Databases (DBOW) results included in the online journals results:
(http://www.library.yale.edu/journals/indexed.html)
c. Options for presenting Citation Linker
(http://www.library.yale.edu/~bturner/journals/indexsfxbt.html
or consider putting CL form on the page; e.g.
http://lib.colostate.edu/journals/)
The committee decided to create a drop down menu for the online journal search
that will offer the options of searching by exact title, title keyword, subject
keyword.
For now, we will continue to display the database results after the results
for online journals. The results count will be changed to "Your search
found..." followed by the number of journals and the number of databases.
Karen will mock up a revised page.
We will keep Citation Linker on a separate page, and not integrate it in the
online journals page. The committee decided to remove the first sentence on
the revised online journals page, and remove the bold and the heading.
4. Finalize Citation Linker
Citation Linker: http://www.library.yale.edu/databases/indexsfx.html
The committee decided to implement citation linker. Dale suggested that the
link text read "If you already have an article citation and want full text
try Citation Linker." Katie will implement the changes. The linking text
will be appear on both the online journals and database pages.
