PIC decided on a new format
Julie will talk to Maryetta / Danuta about implementing the new format
Language translations
Diane Turner doesn't want us to hire staff as freelances for this task; Julie
will try to find graduate students to translate remaining languages
WebTrends : Katie gave an overview of WebTrends and how it is currently
being used. She also demonstrated how to create personalized reports.
Rick demo'd a report that showed top paths through the site to show steps users
take through the site.
We discussed how we might use WebTrends -- for example, to see whether news
items are clicked on, or which database pages are the most popular. We'll have
more discussion about WebTrends when we discuss site assessment more broadly
(starting at the 9/15 meeting).
Julie discussed the Web Coordinator position that Karen and Julie wrote and
proposed to Meg/Danuta. PIC endorses the position and will consider tangible
tasks this person could do. Julie and Karen will work to further define the
tasks and will send to PIC a draft document describing "what we could do"
(if we had this position). That document will eventually go to Meg as further
justification for the position.
Discussion of training was deferred for lack of time.
